Annie Blain Annie Blain met and married her sweetheart William when she was just 17, and just in time to see him go off to war. She worked as a secretary in the coal and manufacturing industry in Toronto, waiting for the war to end and her husband to return so that they could begin their married life. Bill returned home in 1943, and the couple was overjoyed to welcome their daughter Bev to the family the next year. Annie continued to work while raising her daughter: having been raised as one of six children she knew the value of a dollar earned, and worked hard both in the office and at home. Annie credits her mother with teaching her to be a good cook and pulling together tasty meals. The early sixties brought along 2 more daughters to the family, and Annie left the working world to concentrate on raising her family. She also volunteered her time at the local school her children attended. Next July will mark eight happy years for Annie at Lord Dufferin Centre, and she continues to offer her time and service to others, knitting baby outfits for donation, reading to others & participating in “Make A Difference Day” in the past. She also enjoys the company of good friends, and regularly meets to play cards & socialize. She loves to read, talk to her grandkids and spend time on the computer. Annie insists Lord Dufferin Centre as her home, not just a place to live. She is grateful for her life with her husband and her 3 girls, and the many friends she now enjoys. Her beautiful smile is a testimony to her happiness and comfort at Lord Dufferin Centre. |
